It's [not any] bigger than hip hop, hip hop

It's the end of a busy weekend, but here's an extra juicy post to make up for the lack of new beats.

Theo London continues to blow my mind. Unlike almost all other rappers, a lot of his songs allow a long intro of the beat/background before he begins to spit. I think it reflects his uncanny appreciation for all kinds of music, supplemented by his ability to do what he does best, rhyme. Anyway, this is a classic off of his 09 mixtape, This Charming Mixtape. The perfect song for a rainy day in NYC, delivered by a rapper, from NYC.

This is a solid tune, produced by 1500 or nothing. I recommend checking out 1500's site. Honestly, they excite me more than Asher, even though I like his new stuff thats coming out recently a lot more than his older stuff. Whatever the case, check out GRIND, and you will most likely be happy.

With a new album from Outkast expected soon, Big Boi has been producing some solo work to tease the hip hop community with a snippet of what to expect. This is a music video of his song Shutterbug. Looks pretty futuristic, maybe Outkast will be following in the footsteps of the Black Eyed Peas with their new album.

It turns out, however, that I like this song from Big Boi more than the acclaimed one above. Summoning elements of choir/gospel music, heavy horns, electric guitar, and a little more OG salt, General Patton goes real hard. It really gets the blood flowing, I might suggest it before an important interview.

Gotta love some Cool Kids. Simple, elegant, head bobbin beat. Impeccably smooth flow on the rhymes. Summer windows-down driving music.

Flying Kites--The Cool Kids
The best for last? Maybe. An older Hoodie Allen to start off with Don't Look Down off his mixtape, Making Waves. BUT the real gem is the second song. With a taste of some Dubstep wampity wamp, electronic vocal mastery, and all around great rapping, this song is going to be playing around me for a while. Needless to say, everyone should have a woody for hoodie.
